Besides the usual tweezers and razors you can use at home, there are now more professional hair removal methods you can try for yourself. The market is now full of products that can help you achieve the professional hair removal you get at the beauty salons, and with a bit of practice you will become an expert yourself. I was looking for hair removal methods myself, and I’m already set on what suits me the best, so I suggest you check what I found first before making up your mind. Don’t make your choice based on what your girlfriend, or myself, say best suits us, because your skin might differ and your endurance to pain could be too low for some of this methods.

Check out the Best Professional Hair Removal Methods for Women to Try at Home and links for them if you decide you want to give it a try yourself and buy the one that fits yourself the most.

1. Warm Waxing

Wax Warmer
Usually warm waxing is used by some beauty salons still, so it’s the hardest method out there. If you didn’t do this procedure before, with an expert, and you have no idea of the level of pain it comes with it, just don’t try this at home. My suggestion is, before trying ANY of the following methods at home, by yourself, to first try regular waxing at a beauty salon. You will get an idea on how to use them too.

This Warm Waxing Kit, has everything you need. The wax gets into the wax warmer, this needs to melt the wax, but try it on your palm first to make sure it’s not too hot. Use the pre waxing powder if you are sweaty or oily, otherwise the wax won’t stick to your skin. You use the applicators to smudge strips of warm wax on the areas you want your hair removed and let it cool down a bit. Put a muslin strips on top of the wax, this will help you rip the wax off and not get your hands all glued down, and when the wax is cooled, rip it off as fast as you can, in as fewer moves as you can manage. If it’s not cold enough the wax will just stretch, and if it’s too cold, it will break and you will struggle to get every piece of wax off you. You could ask a friend to come help you the first few times, until you get the hang of it. It’s easier when someone else rips it off for you.

2. Roll On Waxing

Roll On Waxing
The salon I’m going to sometimes, uses this procedure for the legs and the wax warmer for the private areas, mustache and other sensitive areas, probably because you can have more control of the shape of the wax when you apply the wax with a spatula, then with this roll on.

The wax heater is specifically designed to fit the right kind of roll on waxing device that makes it easier to smudge the wax on your skin. You get thin, straight stripes, just by rolling the device on your legs. Don’t get thicker strips, like when you use warm wax, this machine doesn’t need that to do it’s job. A thin line, rolling it once in the direction that the hair grows. Then apply the fabric strip firmly over waxed area and tear off the hair-removal paper in the reverse direction that the hair grows. After hair removal, use the cleanser to clean off any residues the wax may have left behind. And after cleaning, use a moisturizer for the smoothest skin you’ve ever had.

Just so you know, this is the product I want to buy. I need it in between my visits to a beauty salon, once a month, so I can wear skirts when the hair starts showing after 2 weeks. I could visit the beauty salon sooner, but I don’t have the time, and I just have a problem with the hair under my knees, the rest it’s not even showing yet at that point, and even with that, it’s SO rare from all the waxing, it just needs a few touches.

3. Electric Hair Removal

Electric hair removal
This kind of hair removal device it doesn’t really need precision and can be handled by anyone. It uses tweezers to pluck the hairs really fast on the area is applied on. There are devices with different speeds, depending on how much you can handle the pain and how hard is your hair to pluck. Some areas will need a second plucking. Hold at a 90-degree angle to your legs and run the epilator in an upward motion against the direction of hair growth. There’s no need to press down too hard, simply touch the epilator lightly on the skin. They say you don’t need to wait for the hair to get long enough, like you do with wax, because it can get way smaller hairs that wax doesn’t have. So I think it’s a huge plus to have.

It’s fast, like a razor blade, it’s easy to use, and can save you from a trip to the beauty salon or wearing jeans on a hot day, when the hair is not long enough to wax. I didn’t want to use this method because I, personally, don’t like tweezers. They get on my nerves. I can’t handle moving the device on some areas, and I can’t ask someone else to do it for me. Thought if I could make myself do it, this electric hair removal device would be my first choice.

4. Light-Based IPL Hair Removal

IPL Hair removal
IPL hair removal system uses same technology found in clinics and salons. This technology delivers permanent hair reduction results in as few as 4-5 treatments. This hair remover should not be used on naturally darker skin tones or skin that is deeply tanned.

This is how it works: It generates pulses of light that target pigmented cells through hair follicles. These short bursts of light help reduce hair growth at the root and deliver permanent hair reduction from arms, legs, shoulders, underarms, backs, chests, and bikini lines. The number of treatments necessary to achieve permanent hair reduction will vary by individual and depends on skin color, hair color and type, and other factors. Most individuals will start to see results after four or five treatments. For most individuals, about ten sessions are required to achieve permanent results. This sounds awesome, right? Well, it is. Imagine never go thru waxing, tweezers, razor blades again.

And sounds easy to use too. Before your session, prepare your skin by shaving the unwanted hair in the treatment area. Choose the area where you want permanent results and begin your session. Make sure you read the manual before using it. It has some safety warnings too, so before purchase, make sure you read those, they are very important.

5. Cold Waxing

Cold Wax
Cold waxing is for those that can handle warm waxing. It’s basically the same only they don’t use bee wax, so it doesn’t need heat to be able to handle it, it uses sugar-based ingredients, like honey. You make sure you try it on a small patch first, like you do with most products you use for the first time, you need to know if your body reacts to the ingredients first. Baby powder before applying the wax will help it not get sticky on your skin.

It needs to be used as you use warm wax, the only things that differ are the ingredients, natural-based, carefully thought for allergic individuals and those with sensitive skin, and the heat.

6. Hair Removal Cream

Hair Removal Cream
This is the easiest way to remove the unwanted hair, and fast too. But it’s not as efficient as the previous products. As in the hair will grow just like after you shaved it, in 2-3 days you’ll see the stubs. I will be replacing my razor blade, for my armpits, with this product though. Less likely to get myself cut and easier to get everything off. You just apply it and wait a few minutes, then take the cream of with a spatula or wash cloth. Couldn’t get simpler than that.

7. Electric Shaver

Electric razor
This is for those who feel comfortable shaving and have no problem doing it every 2-3 days, and feel safer with it than using wax or other complicated devices. I haven’t touched my legs and private areas with a blade for more than 10 years. Just waxing. I do shave my armpits, and I always dread the razor blades. In the long run, they’re expensive and having a device like this will also save me time.

This has advanced four-blade system, flexible hypoallergenic foils, floating heads, and aloe vera strip deliver a close shave while preventing irritation, and can even be used in the shower, but it works on dry too.
